Sony has officially announced the PlayStation Plus monthly games for July 2026, and the lineup offers a solid mix of AAA action, tactical RPGs, and retro-style indie adventures . The three titles will be available to all PlayStation Plus members (Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers) starting Tuesday, July 7, through Monday, August 3 .

Here’s everything you need to know about this month’s free games.

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III – Cross-Gen Bundle (PS5, PS4)

The headliner for July is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the 2023 entry in the long-running FPS franchise . This is the direct sequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare II, following Captain Price and Task Force 141 as they hunt ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov .

The game includes a full single-player campaign, modernized versions of 16 classic multiplayer maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2, and an open-world PvE Zombies mode . While the campaign received mixed reviews at launch for its “open combat” missions, the multiplayer and Zombies modes remain popular draws .

Why it matters: This is a timely addition, as it allows PS Plus subscribers to catch up on the story before the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, scheduled for October 23, 2026 .

2. For The King II (PS5, PS4)

The second game in the lineup is For The King II, a tactical RPG that blends roguelike elements with tabletop-inspired gameplay . Developed by IronOak Games, it’s a sequel to the cult classic original, set in the fantasy realm of Fahrul, where a once-beloved queen has turned tyrannical .

Players can journey alone or team up with up to four players in co-op . The game features procedurally generated maps, turn-based combat with a strategic battle grid, and a campaign that spans roughly 30 hours across seven distinct adventures .

3. CrossCode (PS5, PS4)

Rounding out the month is CrossCode, a critically acclaimed 2D action RPG with a distinctive 16-bit retro aesthetic . Originally released in 2018, it has earned “Very Positive” reviews on Steam and an 82% score on Metacritic .

Players control Lea, a character exploring a sci-fi MMO world, through fast-paced combat, puzzle-heavy “Zelda-esque” dungeons, and a gripping sci-fi story . The game features over 120 enemy types, seven massive dungeons, and can take between 30 and 80 hours to complete, depending on your playstyle .

PS Plus Premium: The Classic Title

In addition to the monthly Essential games, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will also receive a classic title in July: Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy. This PS2-era action game, releasing on July 21, 2026, focuses on psychic abilities like telekinesis and mind control .

The full lineup of PS Plus Extra and Premium games for the month is expected to be announced on Wednesday, July 15 .
